AFA Demands the Release of Our Labor Siblings

AFA Demands the Release of Our Labor Siblings

April 18, 2025 - AFA-CWA and the working class demand the release and return of our wrongfully detained union siblings.

We cannot let this administration disappear anyone, for any reason. Freedom of speech and freedom of movement are some of our most basic rights in this country — this administration’s actions are abhorrent, unacceptable, and an assault on our union family. Their actions are also in defiance of the unanimous decision of the Supreme Court - a direct rejection of due process and rule of law.

Members of our union family are being raided, wrongfully detained, and even deported without due process every day. This includes but is not limited to: Kilmar Abrego Garcia (SMART Member), Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez Zeferino (UFW Activist), Rumeysa Ozturk (SEIU member), Mahmoud Khalil (Former UAW member).

These detentions hit close to home. Our union has direct experience fighting extreme policies like illegal and immoral detentions. In 2019, we fought to bring home Mesa Airlines Flight Attendant Selene Saavedra Roman, who was wrongfully detained by ICE and sent to a private prison.

Flight Attendant, union apprentice, farmworker. It doesn’t matter where you work. An injury to one is an injury to all. We will continue to oppose any extreme, inhumane, or unlawful targeting of law-abiding immigrants and will defend our members’ rights and the rights of our fellow workers.

Join us in writing to Congress to demand Kilmar be brought home and given due process. Sign the petition to demand an end to the assault on the right to organize and protest.
