Washington, D.C. (June 16, 2015) – Flight Attendants from throughout the U.S. aviation industry are picketing today as the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) conducts a system-wide day of action to Bridge the Gap – a concerted effort to end regional and mainline compensation disparity and lift standards for all Flight Attendants.

The June 16th system-wide day of action includes picketing at nine major airports in Washington, DC, New York, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago, Minneapolis, Dallas, Portland and Los Angeles at 11 am local time. Find event information and details at http://www.afacwa.org/bridge_the_gap.

“The U.S. airline industry is crucial to the success of our economy, as are the Flight Attendants who are frontline employees and serve a crucial role in keeping passengers safe,” said AFA International President Sara Nelson. “Flight Attendants are united for our careers and committed to lifting standards across the industry."

Tomorrow’s demonstration marks the second event in a campaign for all Flight Attendants to stand up for equal recognition. Flight Attendants at regional airlines deserve to be compensated in line with the mainline carriers and our efforts aims to bridge the gap and end the wage discrimination.

AFA invites media to RSVP and come out to your local airport.
